How Teams (Accounts) Work
Overview
Teams in Brandboom allow groups of users to share or restrict access to information. This article explains the structure of Brandboom teams, what it means to be on the same or different teams, how users are added to teams, and the concepts of "Inside" and "Outside" teams. It also touches on how subscription fees are handled within teams.
How-to
Users and Teams
Each user is a member of one Account/Team, either individually or with other members. When a user signs up for a Brandboom account, they simultaneously create both a User entity and an Account/Team entity.
What It Means to Be on the Same Team
When users are on the same Brandboom team:
- Orders can be shared with teammates (this requires access to the same showrooms).
- Customers can be shared with teammates (and not with other teams).
- Notifications can be shared for activities generated by teammates (such as Presentation Views and Orders Placed).
What It Means to Be on Different Teams
Conversely, if users are on different teams:
- Order information is not shared.
- Customers are not shared.
- Notifications are not shared.
This structure allows users to keep information private to themselves and the members of their specific team.
How Users Get Put on the Same Team
- If you invite a user who does not already have a Brandboom account, they are automatically added to your team.
- However, if you invite a user with an existing Brandboom account, they will already belong to a different team. In this scenario, you must request a transfer.
Moving a User from One Team to Another
Only a Brandboom administrator can move a user from one team to another. For more information on this process, please see "Move a User from one Team to another."
Inside and Outside Teams
When one team interacts with another, typically through shared access to a Showroom, the terms "Inside" and "Outside" are used. These terms differentiate between users within one's own team and users on other teams.
For example, consider three teams working together in Brandboom: A-Team, B-Team, and C-Team.
- All users in A-Team will see their own team members as part of their "Inside Team" or "My Account."
- Any users in B-Team and C-Team will be seen as "Outside Team" members or "Other Accounts" by A-Team members.
NOTE: For users on the same Team, subscription fees for paid users must match (e.g., all on the Business Plan Annual). You can have a mix of Free users and Paid users, but the Paid users must be on the same Subscription type. Subscription fees are also combined on one invoice.
